A bit about us.

Welcome to Tai Peng Roaster 大坪咖啡. We’re Michelle Kwok and Oscar Venhuis, the duo behind this micro-batch coffee roaster in Tai Peng Village on Lamma Island, Hong Kong.

Michelle, who comes from Hong Kong, spent her formative years in England and graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in engineering. Oscar, on the other hand, was born in Seoul but grew up in Groningen, the Netherlands. He joined the Royal College of Art in London and has started several businesses across Asia for the past decade.

At Tai Peng Roaster, our international roots reflect our approach to coffee. We source specialty coffee beans from every corner of the world and roast them freshly here in Tai Peng Village.

This artisan and precision roasting technique allows us to bring out the optimum flavour profile without any additives in every batch because our philosophy is all about offering you something unique, natural, and exciting—coffee that’s truly worth waking up for! ☕
